Privacy Policy

Updated: July 12, 2006

Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us here at the Bird Dogs and Doubles bulletin board (hereafter referred to as "The Board"). The Board attempts to minimize the personal information that members and prospective members need to reveal; however, we do ask for some basic personal information when registering as a new user to The Board. We want you to be fully informed of how this information is used.

Some basic personal information is required in order to create a user ID on The Board. This information includes your email address that allows The Board to verify your membership application and to route important messages to your existing email account. Message Board notifications, electronic newsletters, and other messages that are sent to you all rely on the email address you provide when you register as a member. You have the ability to change your email address that is associated with your account at any time. You also can elect to keep your email address hidden from other registered users on The Board. The Board will not disclose your email address to other registered users, or to any third party, without your permission. The only exception to this would be in response to a request by legal authorities in the course of an investigation of alleged illicit activities by a member of The Board.

The above describes information that is provided "actively" - meaning, you choose to submit this information to us when you join The Board, or update your account at any point after having joined. Some other information is provided "passively" - meaning, that The Board obtains this information when you login to your account and use the service. This is done primarily through the use of "cookies". Cookies are used by The Board to verify your login information, and to optionally store your password in your browser so that you do not need to type it in each time you visit The Board. Any time that you point your browser to a 'members-only' area, The Board checks your browser's cookie file to see if you have already logged in, and if you have, you're taken to the page that you have requested. If not, you'll be directed to the main web page where you can login to your account, or register for an account if you are not yet a member. Although cookies are sometimes used by advertising banners, Bird Dogs and Doubles is an advertising-free site so your cookies will not be used for this purpose.

When a user posts on The Board, the user IP (Internet Protocol) address is collected by our administrative software. Administrative users of The Board do not routinely use or review this information. However, The Board will observe and track user IP addresses when investigating complaints that a user has violated our Terms of Use or is suspected of having committed an illegal act through the use of our service.

The Board does not routinely terminate member accounts unless the member violates board policy. If you no longer wish to use your account, you may simply let it go unused or you can request that it be deleted by a board administrator.

In this electronic era, when personal information can easily be obtained through various sources, The Board understands the sensitivity of any private information that you disclose to us. It is our intention to treat your account information with the highest level of care. If you have further questions about our practices and policies with regard to how your account information is treated, please contact us at any time.
